Green Card approved without interview Hey guys! I would like to share with you all my experience during my Green Card process by marriage. I got engaged on Thanksgiving 2021. During this time, my current husband and I were trying to decide what to do: a marriage here or in Brazil (my home country) and we knew it this involves a lot of planning and spending. To start with the GC process and have one less concern during the wedding planning, we decided to got marry at the courthouse in February 11, 2022 and we joined only a few people from my husband's family to be there with us. It took only a few minutes and after that, we got the marriage certificate at the same day. TIP: if you are in a hurry to apply for your GC, is better get marry at the courthouse because you get your marriage certificate at the same day. If you do somewhere else, it will probably take a few weeks until get this document. I started to search about the GC process and joined all the documents basically right after got engaged because I knew it I would like to get it done as faster and I could. Especially after my parents got their visa denied and I didn’t have no one from my family to be with me at my wedding day, so my plan B was: get marry at the courthouse in February, make the wedding party in October and have my honeymoon in Brazil. So after I got my marriage certificate, it took me a few more weeks and then I sent my GC process on March 1st. More than 3 years without seeing my family and I was desperate to get my travel permit approved before my wedding celebration. A lot of people don’t know that, but during the process you can apply for something called ”expedite” for your work permit, travel permit, and Green Card interview and I did it for all of them lol . First, almost 4 months waiting since I submitted my GC process, I applied to expedite my WP (work permit) because my boss already knew it I would be working for them for only 2 more months and I need to find another job and I didn’t want to apply for nanny jobs, I wanted to be able to get something on my work field. So I opened my expedite through EMMA (USCIS virtual assistance), she gave me a process number and told me to wait that I will receive an email soon. After a week, they requested me some documents to proof why I need to expedite my WP and I sent it to them on the same day. A month after, they replied me denying my request saying I didn’t proof enough reasons for that whatever! But the craziest part is that after I got my expedite denied, they approved my WP and then I was able to start applying for jobs on my field. I was so thrilled! Then a month before my wedding celebration, I applied to expedite my travel permit because I still had the plans to go to Brazil for my honeymoon and also because I didn’t want to loose the airline tickets I had bought at the beginning of the year (I know, I was crazy doing that lol), so I called USCIS, I requested an infopass and I was able to speak to a USCIS agent. I explained to him my situation, I told him I miss my family and they would not be able to come for my wedding, for this and other humanitarian reasons I was requesting my expedite to be able to go to Brazil right after my wedding day. He told me to add more evidences to my online case and after a month and a half (literally one week before my wedding day), they approved my travel permit and I received my document at home 2 days before my wedding day! I was freaking out because my plan was to fly to Brazil the day after my wedding, so I was super freaking lucky! Ok everything was so much fun! My husband met my whole family, I spent 3 weeks there and my husband had to come back before because of his work, and we had the best honeymoon we could ask for! I was a little bit nervous to come back by myself because the travel permit is not a guarantee that the immigration will let you come back to US, but I was missing my family so much and I was determined to take any risk just to be able to see them again! So, at Dulles airport, they took me to the famous “immigration room”, I had to wait there for a few minutes and then they let me in with no problems. My husband was also aware about the risks, and he already had contacted an attorney in case they don’t let me go back to US his whole family was stressed out because of that, and everyone was ready to fight in case they send me back to Brazil, but thankfully this didn’t happen. TIP 2: bring ALL the documents that proof you are in the process of adjustment of status (GC). The documents I was carrying with me were the marriage certificate, travel permit approval letter, copy of my husband passport and birth certificate, copy of my passport and birth certificate, copy of our driver license, copy of the receipt notice from my I-485, etc. Ok, so I was back to the US and then everything was fine. But during all this time, I was studying at a university in VA, and I was paying as an international student, and everyone here knows how much expensive this is! Even married to a U.S. citizen, they told me I will be able to pay the tuition as a resident only after have my GC approved I was like: ok, so let’s do this expedite process again I submitted another expedite request to get my interview done sooner and I sent a lot of financial documents to proof that I was getting broke and even me and my husband will have to stop paying for my school soon if I don’t get my GC approved. This expedite took 3 months until I hear back from them! But finally, at the beginning of March, I got my GC approved without the interview and now I will be able to pay less for school and to go visit my family in Brazil without any problems at the airport! I decided to share my experience with you all because I know some people are in the process and they want to hear experiences from people like me, like you, etc. So, if you need help with your process and don't know where to start, email us and we will be more than happy to help you out! :)
